I’m almost a month into training now, or at least I should be. I injured my knee on literally the first run of the challenge and it has been bad ever since. I am pretty sure I have IT Band Syndrome. I’m doing daily stretches and strengthening exercises to try and cure it but at the moment, I’m not seeing any improvement. Every time I go for a jog it begins to hurt after a minute or two. I don’t know what to do…

On Monday 18th April 2016 my year of running came to an end. Despite numerous injuries and setbacks, I clocked up over 850 miles on my feet and finished my first ever half marathon in a fairly respectable 88:48.

Five days after the end of the challenge I finish my local parkrun in 18:59, for a new PB. This was a goal I had been striving towards for the entire year but hadn’t quite managed to achieve. I might have only been by one second but I am now officially a sub 19 runner!
